Oklahoma State University is in Tulsa, for Tulsa. OSU-Tulsa's vision includes broadening the University's research capabilities and activities in the Tulsa metropolitan area. As the newest member of the OSU system, the Tulsa campus brings a new dimension to the university's research mission. Tulsa-affiliated research is deliberately fashioned to be innovative and relevant to serve Oklahoma and the unique needs of Tulsa.

The former University Center at Tulsa campus became OSU-Tulsa on Jan. 1, 1999. During this short time, the campus has worked to become an integral part of the Tulsa community and the development of the state of Oklahoma. During this time, OSU-Tulsa has experienced a tremendous growth phase. Student headcount has grown from 1,187 in the spring 1999 semester to over 3,000 currently.

The Tulsa campus has embraced OSU's "one university, multiple sites" philosophy. OSU-Tulsa maximizes university resources by promoting a partnership where learning and research flourish through sharing faculty and resources with the Stillwater campus.

OSU Degrees

OSU-Tulsa offers area students the chance to pursue their chosen profession at an internationally respected institution while remaining close to home. With more than 80 undergraduate and graduate degree options available, OSU students on the Tulsa campus earn the same internationally recognized OSU degree that students in Stillwater receive.

OSU Faculty

The excellence of OSU-Tulsa instruction and research activities is a result of the talented faculty. The university recruits professors from all over the world who are committed to students' success and dedicated to providing them a positive educational experience. A significant number of faculty teach classes on both the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses, giving students in Tulsa access to nationally accredited OSU programs and a wealth of talented educators.

Tulsa-based faculty are appointed and tenured through their academic department in Stillwater, and research initiatives are closely coordinated between the campuses. This intellectual collaboration creates an interwoven academic family that leverages the strengths of the Stillwater and Tulsa campuses.

Faculty members at OSU-Tulsa excel in many academic disciplines. Some areas of emphasis for Tulsa research include: aviation sciences, civil engineering, computer engineering, computer science, curriculum and instruction, early childhood, e-commerce, education, engineering and technology management, environmental management, information technology, mass communications, occupational and adult education, telecommunications, mass transportation in the Tulsa area, and watershed and drinking water problems in northeastern Oklahoma.

OSU-Tulsa Research Capabilities

As part of OSU's vision for a vibrant and prosperous Oklahoma, OSU-Tulsa constructed the Helmerich Research Center. Made possible through Tulsa County's Vision 2025 initiative, the state's 2005 higher education bond issue and Walter and Peggy Helmerich of Tulsa, the $43 million center will stimulate economic development for Tulsa and Northeastern Oklahoma, resulting in collaborations with area businesses and the creation of new jobs.

The HRC houses laboratories for faculty and graduate students who will develop the next generation of composites and materials used by many Oklahoma industries. Research in the HRC will focus on four areas: advanced materials, bio-based technologies, energy technologies and information and control technologies. The 123,000-square-foot research center includes specialized laboratories, clean rooms, an imaging suite, advanced information technology equipment, faculty offices and two high-tech seminar rooms.
