Welcome Week

The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center will have a booth setup for ‘Welcome Week.’ Come receive a stress ball, fitness studio schedule, or information about Wellness Center services and activities. Don’t stop there! Walk down to North Hall 116 and 117 to tour the Wellness Center and Fitness Studio. A Wellness Attendant will be on staff to answer any question(s) you have about Wellness at OSU-Tulsa.

Eat This Not That Lunch-n-Learn

Wouldn’t it be nice to always know what the healthiest item on a fast food menu is? Fast food marketing ads can be very misleading and often times will be surprised you by what they label as healthy. This
Lunch-n-Learn is dedicated to debunking fast food myths and helping participants choose what items are the healthiest choice in the menu. Feel free to bring a lunch! Registration is required for this Lunch-n-Learn.

Fall 2014 OSU-Tulsa Most Fit Competition

The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center is excited to announce our first Most Fit Competition. This competition is aimed to find the top male and female who have the optimal combination of the 5 components of fitness: flexibility, cardiorespiratory fitness, muscular endurance, muscular strength, and body composition. All OSU students and employees are encouraged to participate. The top Male/Female student will receive a prize deeming them the Most Fit on campus. There is NO registration fee; however, registration is required in order to compete.

There are 3 categories of challenges, with 3 activities in each category, and a body composition screening. Events are labeled below.

Body Fat Percentage: Hand held and foot BIA

Category 1: Max Rep Challenge
Bench Press: 60% of body weight for women and 75% for men
Ring Rows: Men’s heels on the wall and female’s heels 12” from wall
Air Squats

Category 2: Distance Challenge
Broad Jump
Medicine Ball Throw: Men 20lb., Women 12lb.
Sit and Reach Test

Category 3: Time Challenge
Hill Sprint
Mile Run
Plank Hold: Closest to 10 minutes

Women’s Wellness Lunch-n-Learn

Certified Nurse Practitioner, Jennifer Curran, will be teaching this Lunch-n-Learn that is dedicated to Women’s Wellness. Topics of interested will include: Heart Disease, Cancer, Stroke, and Diabetes. Jennifer will provide participants with the knowledge and tips they need to help keep the women in their lives healthy and happy. This lunch-n-learn is about women but anyone is encouraged to participate.
Registration is required for this Lunch-n-Learn.

November Burpee Challenge

Are you able to do 24 burpees without stopping? How about 48?! Starting on Monday, November 3 all participants will start the program by doing 3 burpees. Participants will continue to match the physical date in burpess, until Friday, November 24. All OSU students, staff and faculty are encouraged to participate. OSU in Tulsa Health Fair

The OSU-Tulsa Wellness Center is excited to host the Fall 2014 OSU in Tulsa Health Fair. OSU students and employees will receive FREE services such as: flu vaccinations, blood donations with O.B.I., Fitness Assessments, Health Screenings, and much more! Healthy snacks and beverages will be provided. All participants will have the chance to win multiple door prizes.
